| REPORT OF THE ABINGTON HISTORICAL COMMISSION To The Inhabitants of the Town of Abington: It was a quiet year for the Abington Historical Commission. The severe winter months forced many monthly meetings to be cancelled. However when the weather was in our favor, the Commission devoted many hours in research and documentation of a Demolition Delay By-Law for the Town of Abington. The proposed draft was submitted to the By-Law Committee, the Town Manager and the Selectmen for review and discussion in preparation for the 2006 annual Town meeting. In May, the Commission hosted an arts fest featuring local businesses, crafts, and artisans. The fest was held in the Copeland Room located at the Public library. Several local residents displayed their collections of postcards and painted story boards. Michele Stenson, owner of the American Folk Art and Craft Supply Shoppe, displayed a bounty of beautifully handmade braided rugs. On display were "Abington" themed pottery items from the Busy Beaver. Andy Spader, a local artisan of Austrian crystal jewelry demonstrated his craft. He is proprietor of an online jewelry business, "Swinging Samba PookerRmgs". We welcomed... www.abingtonhistory.org . This website contains useful information about Abington and the Commission. Construction of the site is still ongoing. Please feel free to visit our newly formed website where your comments or inquiries are always welcomed. The Commission continues to work on the several projects that are underway and looks forward to meeting the new challenges in the upcoming year.
