| REPORT OF THE ABINGTON CABLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE The year 2005 was a fairly stable year for cable television subscribers in Abington. As the town entered the sixth year of its contract with Adelphia, our cable service continued to have substantially fewer problems and complaints as compared to previous years. Subscribers have continued to experience improved reliability in cable service and have continued to be able to choose among many new products such as digital cable television, cable internet service, digital video recording, video on demand and high definition television. We look forward to seeing more advances throughout the next year as Adelphia is sold to Comcast. We also look forward to a seamless transition from Adelphia to Comcast. Finally, local access programs continue to be broadcast. The committee would like to remind citizens that variety in local access programming can only be accomplished with the assistance of community volunteers. The studio was recently equipped with new digital video cameras and new editing technology that will enhance the quality of studio productions. Training is available for community, school, fraternal and sports organizations as well as individuals. We once again encourage citizens to become involved in their local studio activities. Respectfully submitted, Beth Golden, chairperson Donna Sloan Trisha Southerland |
