April 9, 2008 - Town Meeting adjourned after voting on all articles.
Articles 4 & 5 were withdrawn by Town Manager.
Article 6 was passed over, although recommended for approval by
the Finance Committee.
Articles 3, 7 - 15 and 17 - 26 were approved as recommended by the
Finance Committee.
Article 16 was passed over as recommended by the Finance Committee.
The Town meeting agreed to an override of $650,000 to fund, in part, the solid waste
disposal costs of the town. The town must vote to pass the override at the election
scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2008. If the override does not pass, the Board of Health
will initiate a fee program, 'pay as you throw', or another alternative to come up with the
$650,000.
Town Meeting gave a standing ovation to Moderator Michael Franey in appreciation of
over 20 years years of dedicated service, in many volunteer and elected capacities, that he
has provided to the town. Mr. Franey has decided not to stand for reelection as moderator.
