Two Candidates run for selectmen seat.

Abington - Two candidates will be vying for a three-year seat on the
Board of Selectmne in the only contested race in the April 28 town
election.
Richard Cunningham has resigned from the Finance Committee to
run for a three-year selectman seat against Tracey A. Derbes.
Incumbent Selectman Joseph Murray did not return his nomination
papers by Monday's deadline, Town Clerk Linda Adams said.
Those running unopposed for two trhee-year seats and a two-year
unexpired term on the Board Of Health are Ann Welch, Frank
Lazarro, Jr. and Hal Norton.
Incumbents Roger Atkinson and Susan Brennan had planned on
seeking re-election, but resigned last week citing political turmoil on
the board.
Adams said Brennan still has not withdrawn her nomination papers.

Russell L. Esau Park & Recreation Three-year Seat
There are 9,940 registered voters in Abington. The average voter
turnout is about 18 percent, but in (recent?) past years it has been
roughly 12 percent, Adams said.
